Optometry Pharma

Pharma provides current and relevant information and news on pharmaceutical products, including therapeutic preparations, used and prescribed by optometrists. It is a non-profit magazine published by Optometrists Association Australia.

Optometry Pharma is published four times a year in March, June, September and December and distributed as a supplement to Australian Optometry newspaper. It is distributed throughout Australia and New Zealand to 4,400 optometrists in private and corporate clinical practice, education and research; and optometry students, ophthalmologists, optical dispensers, the ophthalmic optics industry, and by subscription world-wide.

Circulation 4,800

The magazine provides information on anti-infectives, decongestants and anti-inflammatories, glaucoma preparations, diagnostics and anaesthetics, as well as lubricants, contact lens solutions, stains and solutions for sterilising equipment.

Optometry Pharma’s aim is to foster skills in and enthusiasm for optometric therapeutic practice. The magazine is of interest to all optometrists, not just the therapeutically endorsed. In an independent survey conducted for Optometrists Association by Roy Morgan Research in August 2007, 82 per cent of members said they would find Optometry Pharma useful. When asked what type of articles would be most relevant in Optometry Pharma, members said:

  • clinical guide to pharmaceutical products – 91 per cent

  • case studies – 65 per cent

  • clinical practice – 64 per cent
