Fighting against antibiotic resistance
National Prescribing Service (NPS) is asking all Australians to join in the fight against antibiotic resistance. Overuse and misuse of antibiotics has made it harder and harder to treat many bacterial infections as antibiotics are losing their power. NPS has antibiotic resistance information for both the community and health professionals available on their website. Optometrists Association Australia encourages Optometrists to join the fight and spread knowledge on antibiotic resistance within the community.
The Blackmores Dr Paul Beaumont Research Fellowship for 2013 opens

2012 Contact Lens Prescribing Survey
As part of an international effort, Professor Nathan Efron this year is again conducting a survey to investigate the current state of contact lens prescribing in Australia. If your practice prescribes contact lenses, we ask you to complete the Survey of Contact Lens Prescribing form.
Optometrists Association, in partnership with Johnson and Johnson Vision Care, has developed a Contact Lens campaign to help educate and inform Australians about the benefits of contact lenses and the need for specialist advice.
