We are the professional body for optometrists practicing right across the State, with over 1,000 members. We work to support and inform optometrists, and to maintain the highest quality eye care services for all Victorians. We also provide information for patients and members of the public about optometry services.

National Registration is here

The national registration scheme for optometrists and other health professionals is officially in place. If you're currently registered, you'll have automatically be carried across into the national registration scheme.

The Optometry Board of Australia has a website which you can access for information about new registration standards and Guidelines, including those for CPD, therapeutics and recency of practice. There are also Fact Sheets explaining the transitional arrangements, and information about registration categories. Visit the Board website or contact us to find out more.

Please note inquiries relating specifically to registration should be made through the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency registration helpline on 1300 088 590.


Fact Sheet for GPs: Here to help

Optometrists Association Victoria has produced some Fact Sheets for GPs who are interested in finding out more about how optometrists can help them provide great eyecare for their patients. The Fact Sheets have been produced with the assistance of the GP Liaison Officer at the Royal Victorian Eye and Ear Hospital.
